Crapshoot! We got 2 perch. Searched everywhere, saw fish here and there on the sonar no schools. Hit both fish at the same time in 53 FOW.

On another note I have never seen gobies like I have this year in open water, whether its 30 FOW or 55 FOW. Maybe I was lucky enough to never have issue with them in years past......or maybe this is something new, its certainly something new to me. We plucked plenty of gobies spot locked and drifting........... I question whether I am marking random gobies or perch.....

You had better results than I did today trying from the Pink house to the pump station in New Buffalo and all typical hot spots in between. Not even a bite! I didn't stay in one place for long. Between sonar, down scan and our rods not bending we moved a lot. Did a lot of zig zagging in the typical hot areas looking for marks and didn't see much. I guess the blow yesterday had more impact than I expected. The water did have a mild gray tint near shore and the Perch must have headed to deeper and clearer water. Hopefully only temporary.

Also the only gobies I have caught this year were when I was trying to pull Perch from the reef north of New Buffalo. I haven't seen what you describe out of MC and NB.

Today I would have been thrilled to pull a few gobies! Lol. I talked to a few other guys out there and none of them were cAtching either. If we get a few days of stable weather they will be back. I did mark and fish some decent bait piles but no Perch.

Yeah the Perch fishing this year has really been different than the previous years. My numbers for the year are way down also. It is strange one or 2 days of pounding fish and filling the cooler and then go back to same exact set of numbers and pull nothing but friggin gobies! I have seen alot of small Perch in the stomachs of the Salmon we've been getting as well so I guess the alewife population isn't to good either.
