TOPIC:

Perfect weather and water conditions really couldn't ask for a better day. Launched at East Chicago and jumped around all over the clay flats starting shallow and all the way out deep to 55fow for about 4hrs in the Gary area and only marked 1 pod of Perch but never got a bump. Packed up and scooted over the Burns Ditch area and called that area home for about another 4hrs and found a pod of fish right away in 51fow and caught 3 small dink 10" male perch. First thought this wasn't good as the males usually come in after the females. Only got those 3 fish for the day. Water temp was pretty much 50* everywhere I fished. It was me and only 2 other boats out there. Tough bite so to say ....

The lake is warming up pretty quick this year due to the mild winter. Appears to me everything will be early this year. With the lake temp at 50* those temps were usually get in early June when I'm out trolling for the Perch.

I talked with a handful of boats that were out perching this past weekend and they pretty much came up with the same results as I did. Probably around 10 perch caught between 5 boats and they all caught the smaller males .... Maybe there will be a round 2 in early May?
