So a thought I had would be to create a fishing journal program on this site. This would be a journal for each individual user and would be entirely private - nobody else could see and it would be encrypted etc. for security reasons. Would you guys find this useful? What features would you like to see?

Offhand I could see being able to generate charts for time of year, number of fish, depth of water etc etc. in addition to your own personal notes.

This is however a great deal of development, so I would only do it if people think its useful. I also likely would not complete until sometime over the winter - but you never know.

Give me your thoughts and input, the more people that chime in the better.

Extremely useful as we have tried to keep track on paper a journal entry but most of the time it doesnt get entered and we fall back into what we remember from past. This would be awesome as when I fill out posts i can enter it in the journal same time.

I think this is a great idea Jeff. I always start out writing notes in a book, by the end of April I'm done. I'm on here daily anyway so it would be very easy to go to my journal and jot down some notes. Great idea!!

GREAT Idea. water temps, GPS coordinates, time, weather, lure selections, depth & depth fished, speed and more I'm sure. I bet it will save a few trees eventually! Thanks can't wait to see it up and running. Rudey

At first I was thinking not sure I would use that feature but then I was thinking rather than keeping a paper log I could just bring the tablet on the boat and log that way (or transfer from paper when on dry land). So I would vote yes . If over the winter you are doing the dev - hit me up and I may be able to lend a helping hand, I have some programming experience but nothing major. I like programming so may be a fun winter project.

Good deal Ed - at some point I will come up with a flow chart on how I think it should work and see what you all think in regards to what works and what doesnt for all of you and modify the plan from there. This week I will actually have some free time to some extent so I may get working on it...........unless the weather permits me to fish :)

Everything will be coded in php and written to an sql database.
