With the wind and storm forecast, a day offshore seemed ill-advised. So I told my customers they could experience Great Lakes fishing nearshore, but the catching part would likely be slim. Take it or leave it. They decided to take it.

So we stayed in close to the mouth of the ditch and set up a "steelhead" pattern.

Early-on we hooked and landed a really nice gaspergoo around 10 pounds. Next pass we had another bite but it got off. "Had to be a steelhead," I coached my customers. No one ever loses a gaspergoo!

Then the sky darkened and I started pulling lines out by the #4. Zing-zing a downrigged big red spoon gets bit. Another G-goo, this one about 12 pounds.

The customers were thrilled. Biggest fish of their lives. Both 'goos were released, I'm now convinced this is too precious a resource to take lightly. So I didn't have to clean any fish. I was on the highway home before the rain showed up.

Does it get any better? Sure! But it wasn't a wasted day.....

And the customers were elated which is great. Good seeing you at the ramp before the storm hit Mike.

I'd have stopped to talk Jeff but the rain was coming and you were strapping things down. Normally, I make it back to the marina five minutes AFTER the rain starts. This time I didn't hit rain until I was almost to I-65. Weird!

I was pleased with myself for getting off the lake before it started too ;)
