Decided with the wind forecast for later today and tonight/saturday, to give it a shot this morning at pastrick. We managed to get our 10 coho this morning. Wasn't hot and heavy, but a slow steady pick, we lost 5 others and had several drive bys. Flatlines with crankbaits by far did the most damage, with the old standby red/black squiggle thin fish probably accounting for the most action. Got a couple off riggers, and one on a dipsy. Lost a bigger fish off a rigger with super slim stinger NBK, maybe a brown? We picked up all our fish from just outside the marina and trolling east to the buffington lighthouse, back and forth. Deployed one of the new homemade big planer boards I made in the off season, it worked fine, took 3 fish off of it, just need to change our layout a bit, and we'll have both in action next time. The .75 cent brother nature releases work just fine also.
It was great to get the boat wet, even better to actually catch fish. We were going to stay over and fish mich city tomorrow, but with the wind/wave forecast, decided that wasn't going to be too attractive until in the afternoon. Thought about staying and fishing pastrick again tomorrow, but decided this will be the only place fishable in the morning on the south end, and I'm just betting the wall will get pretty crowded, coupled with they have the parking lots all tore up, it could be a nightmare. The cleaning station was open, another bonus. Heard rainmaker on the radio, sounded like they were getting them somewhere over out of the ditch, unfortunately, that might be impossible in the morning.
Brother Nature was there, I said hi in the morning when he walked by, I got a courtesy wave. My brother said hi while in the boat when passing you to go to the ramp, didn't get any response? Maybe you need to lay off the gruff juice in the morning Mike?
