Methinks G-Undercover is spot on. Maybe at Michigan City the NE wind isn't so damaging, but at Portage and points west, I'm sure it's pushed the warm water in to the point there will be warm water, top to bottom. The thermocline at the MC buoy has dropped 10 - 15 feet deeper right now (4 PM) than what it was at 6AM today. If the wind dies, there still may be 10 or 15 feet of cool water over east near the bottom.

If the fish swam up the river, they are gone. If they drifted out with the cold water, good luck finding them.

That being said, the horniest of the spawning fish probably didn't go anywhere and will still be around. I agree also with the Gerry's assessment of the waves. I'm expecting there to be 4 to 6 foot swells from the NE at dawn off the port and they will subside as the morning progresses.

If you can only go one day this weekend, I'd suggest skipping tomorrow in favor of Sunday or Monday.

We'll all know if I'm right in the morning.

Yeah pretty big difference between the temps at the Cook Nuke buoy and the MC buoy. Still rolling 3.4' at the MC buoy at the moment. Hmmm! Sunday and Monday look pretty awesome though.

It'll be fishable in the a.m. I'm expecting wide rollers.

I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong in am, but for my 17.8 ft boat, I hate rollers, I'm sitting this one out! I'm gna try Sunday, or preferably Monday if I can take off work. Good luck and be safe boys.

I sincerely hope you boys get out and slay the fish tomorrow morning, rollers and water temps be damned (although important). Unfortunately I've got prior obligations and am looking at a Monday am trip. Best of luck to all and look forward to reading the reports!
