Fished the Coho Club Championship series on Sunday with Cruise (Tony) and Horsefly (Phil). This was a two day event, weigh your best five over the course of two days. We were only available to fish Sunday though due to fishing a bass tournament on Saturday.

It was debatable weather or not we would even go out due to the strong south southwest winds forecast. We decided to try it run out to where we felt it was getting sketchy and go on a north troll until it started to feel borderline dangerous then pull rods and turn around nose up at 8 mph and repeat as there was no way we would be able to troll into the waves without sinking.

We set down in 2-3's in 55 FOW. The wave period was pretty tight as expected. If the wind picked up, we knew we would have to call it quits or try for steelhead nearshore. So we trolled north, and it was not getting worse. Took an hour and a half or so to boat our first fish as we got into productive waters. Eventually the lake actually laid down pretty nice with rolling 1-2's and we were finally able to troll southeast to try and find some trout as we were too far north by that time. We finally found good numbers of trout on the sonar in 85-90 FOW but it was near noon and we could not get them to hit.

Ended the day with a 12lb king, 12lb laker, threw back a few small lakers, 13 coho, and released 10-15 coho.

Since we were not targetting coho, we ran deeper and bigger baits, but still caught them. We ran a mix of regular and mag spoons, FF, meat rigs.

More people need to come on out to these tournaments weather they are ours or the coho club's. Alot of fun and always good meeting and conversing with people.

He was a fatty no doubt and strong. He created all kinds of chaos once we got him near the boat. Got around a rigger cable and we got him out, then shot up in front of the boat again and got into a dipsy line - somehow we got him in.....
