Started out of Pastrick around 8 after wasting time getting minnows. Marked lots of bait around first the light on my way out. PLan was to fish the wall since I was solo and calling for north winds. I made a pass out to the hole in the wall and then back in toward Buffington without a hit. It was calmer than I had expected and I heard a charter on the radio that had just finished coming across the beach from BUffington back to the first light say that he only had two fish. So I decided to boogey down to Gary and look for perch and see if the salmon fishing was any better. Mototred over a few spots looking for perch and didn't find anything worth fishing so I just dropped in the salmon gear and fished may way down to Lake street from G.L. Marked a few pods of bait on the bottom and managed 1 12 inch king and a 15 or 16 inch coho, both went back. By the tiime I got to the corner at lake street it was picking up out of the north so I decided to pack it in. On the way back to EC, from about 4 stacks west, the bottom would jump up on my graph with piles of bait coming up 20 feet off the bottom. I got BUffington and said screw it, I mess around aother hour or so and see what I can do. I ended up keeping a limit of nice sized ho's and throwing back several good coho and a few more small fish. Really was hoping to get my first real king of the year today but couldnt make it happen. Long and short of it would be that the was a lot of bait around today, coho were pretty spread out although I did do some kind of weird triple where I landed one fish and had another 1 on the other rigger and when I brought that one in I had a little king on the main line and a nice ho on the slider, that was right in front of Dean Mithchel. Fish came on almost everything. D/F, J-11, SS, and Standard spoons. Couldnt get bit on a jointed j-plug, ran several colors all day hoping for that king bite. Orange j-11 on a board and SS mixed veggie slider were probably the best baits,. Pulled up a few alewives and ran one on Cal City chicken rig for an hour or so without a bite. About half the fish I cleaned this afternoon had bait in the them. Bait seemed to really be concentrated in the 30 ft range in the bottom half of the column. Water temps were 49-51, cooler and cleaner at Gary. I think thats about it.

Great report, thanks for sharing. Good to hear that the bait is moving in. Kings and bigger coho won't be far behind.
