Posted as new member earlier this year. Took the advice too hire a guide. Btw Brother Nature was extremely helpful!!, Have been ounce on my own and got a couple steelhead. My question is on seasonality. Right now I have only fished near shore in front the ditch. How much longer will this produce fish? Or is it over? Or do they come back in later in the year?

From my little bit of experience I will say I've caught steelies from mid June til October between that time line I have gotten cohos n kings befor they run up the ditch I live in Illinois but do all my Lake Michigan fishing outa portage and I've caught everything there is to catch in the lake within a mile of the mouth at different times of the year!!! Keep checking on the site lots of great info and very helpful and friendly people on this site!!!

Every year is somewhat different but there should be some kings from way late August into October, cohos from early September through most of October and lake trout starting in way late October until spring. All spawning run fish, tough to catch but fun when you do.

I am still fairly new to Salmon fishing but I seem to be somewhat consistent (when I say consistent, I get a few fish but have yet to limit out). As the weather gets warmer I generally end up more North West in the lake (never much North of the City of Chicago but that is due to my smaller boat and launching on the South end).. Early spring I am more South and South East. I stay out of Michigan waters so North East might be good also at it warms up. I am far from the best out there (can't hold a candle to many) so take it for what its worth.
