Had to work mids last night. Got home at 6:30a and on the water at 7:30a. Ran down to the Gary Light before the wind got bad. We picked away at them. 9 Coho, 1 Brown, and a laker. We tried running planner boards but the lake was tough rough for them. We ended up running 2 flat line rods and 2 dipsy rods. Nothing orange seemed to work so we switched to pink and purple flickr shads. The ride back to Portage sucked. Could only do 10mph. But it was worth the trip. Hope to get out this next weekend.

I think we met at the ramp today. I have the blue Hewescraft. I figured you probably headed west. We stayed way east of Gary along the beaches. We had a great day there Sunday and boxed 3 hands worth and missed nearly that many plus threw back some smaller fish. Thinfish and thinfins along with j-11's caught ours on Sunday. My custom painted lures did extremely well. They out fished the red with black squiggles by far. Mainly reds, oranges, flo green and flo yellow worked. Speed was 2.4 to near 3 mph and the magic depth was 36 feet.
Today was not as good.Got a late start and was eventually chased off by the incoming front and the building waves. Good news was I had my canvas cabin on the boat and we stayed comfortable and very dry both days. I ran back in the 2-3 footers and could maintain a bumpy 14-15 mph back to the ditch. Got to love those smooth ride seats in the boat. Every boat needs those seats. Expensive you ask? You back and butt will tell you thank you for caring so much for their well being. The boat will handle wavy water waaaaay more better than your body will. For the hour and half or 2 we spent fishing today all we boxed was 3 and lost 2 others. Ran a smaller spread of the same lures because of the waves and we still managed to trash another reel full of line do the fish tangling the other lines during the fights.

I am sooo glad I got to come home for one day and have this reminder that sometimes the world sucks after you have a little fun in your life. I should have stayed up there with you guys.
