Finally got out on the big lake today out of New Buffalo and happy to say everything is in working order. We fished NE of the reef from 7:30 - 11:00 and it was real slow. Had a couple of Trout come off at the boat and landed an 18.5# King. It hit a Green fly behind a Green Frog Spin Dr. it was on a wire diver out 46’ on a 2 setting. Not a bad first fish of the year!! Wonder how the tournament teams did today?

Tournament teams did real good today. Extremely impressive weigh in today.
The pros is led by a 161lb bag of 10 kings
The amateur is led by a 98lb 5 fish bag of kings
Tons and tons of kings weighed in today. Supposedly over by where baron was fishing...maybe a bit more up the coast

Yeah I saw that also and there were quite a few boats in the general area we fished. It struck me that we had too many “Coho” baits in the water. Lol. Probably if I had the day to do over I’d have some meat rigs and some 100’ coppers with rotator / fly combos to get a few more Kings going. Apparently the Coho have abandoned the area. We had Thin Fins and Dodger flys going with without a sniff.
