Fished 4 - 7 PM. Ran spoons on 2.5,3,4,5 colors on boards and on 2 braid dipsy rods, F/F on riggers with small spoons on free sliders. Fished from 25 FOW to 60 FOW from lighthouse to Central and back and around. Several boats just going back in forth in front of the break wall.

Only fish caught was a 3 LB coho on a free slider probably 12 - 15 down in about 40 FOW, Michigan Stinger Green Bubble. This was off of Central beach as we were turning around to head back towards the lighthouse where everyone else was fishing.

Trolled just about every direction, varied speed at the ball from 1.8 to 2.8 and everything in between.

My frustration level is pretty high hearing / seeing everyone else catching like crazy in the same water, including seeing charters out of MC catching right there as well. Gotta keep at it I suppose, I'll get it right one of these days! Anybody talk on the radio out there?

I am guessing more of a spoon bite right now - but I havent been out in 10 days so I am not one to say for sure. Blue's, Greens and slim to reg to mag - depends on the day.

Walked along the MC shore with the family Sunday afternoon and there were a LOT of green bugs along the shore. Fish are probably gorging on them.

Going to try to get out again this weekend if the weather holds. We will see what happens.

Figured I'd still post my crappy report even in the midst of all the good ones!

I’ve struggled this week too. Bad reports can be just as helpful as good ones. I’ve been hesitant to post my failures because it seems like the fish are still around and I don’t want to discourage others from going out. I’ve been at it for quite a while, have run charters local and in Alaska. I feel like I can hold my own next to just about anyone. If luck weren’t a factor we’d all be bored. The struggles keep it interesting. You’ll have your day(s) Scoff. Dogsbest, seems to be as dialed in as anyone and last week he had a bad morning and said they were gone. I went out 12hrs later and railed on them. Not trying to put him down at all, just saying it’s hit and miss out there. Get out early and stay late your efforts will be rewarded!!!

Completely right. Its amazing how the fish will come in and out, and quite honestly how two boats fishing next two each other can have very different results Sometimes its your day and sometimes not. Refine your craft and you will have less of the bad days - but there is not magic potion, just experience that teaches you how to adjust on the fly based on what you are seeing / experiencing.
