Headed out yesterday evening with a close eye on that storm tearing across Illinois. Looked as if it was breaking up as it came across the state so we made the cautious call to run out and keep a close eye on the radar. Stopped at the Gong to keep ourselves a little closer in if we had to run back. Marked a few schools of baitfish and picked up a nice coho almost immediately on the dipsy with flasher/fly. Things slowed down a lot after that, trolled for a few hours before taking 1 more on the downrigger down 35' and losing another on the outside dipsy. Ended up 2 for 3 and not a touch of wind or rain. Just some nice photos of the city. Tight lines. Nick

It was definitely a gorgeous night to be out on the lake. Glad all the crap stayed off of us. While we were out last night, I got bit by a few mosquitoes......yes mosquitoes - 15 miles out!!

Good to hear you made it out I had the boat hooked up about to head out of the driveway at 330 then checked the radar and decided against it as I have been caught out there in a storm once and said I'd never do it again we might try it this afternoon depending on how hard it decides to blow

I hear ya. I got caught in a storm 3 years ago - I was in 5 - 6 footers in no time.
After that I went and got the sirius xm radar add on for my lowrance - radar shows up on my chart. If I see something coming I can shoot back in a hurry or find a way around it. I find it invaluable.

Without it I dont think I would have gone out yesterday because cell coverage can be bad to nonexistent out there at times.

Nice yah that's what I was worried about not having service to be able to check the radar to keep an eye on it

its the sirius marine and its like $10 or $12 a month. you can turn it off during the winter months as well and start back up in the spring. I logged into my sirius account and here is the plan:

sounds like the right tool for the job. these things are well worth their price - you get safety, piece of mind, and ultimately more time on the water.
