Ever have "one of those days"? Started about 2 hours later than planned on Sunday out of Portage but headed toward the pack North of the gong. About 15 miles from Portage. Of course by the time I got there the "hot" bite was over and trolled for 1 1/2 hours without a bump. Carmel Dolphin goes off 45' down and the line breaks with a nice King lazily swimming about 20 yards behind the boat with the sun glinting off the spoon. Change up the 175' copper only to watch the knot virtually unravel with Michigan Stinger Green Icee and go to the bottom of the lake. Hook up about 4'lb laker suspended at 45', net it into the boat and mysteriously the Ugly Stick rod breaks for no apparent reason. Catch a coho 40' down on mini dodger green fly which was just small enough to release for a catch another day.

Over stayed the bite hoping to find that one angler-friendly bigger fish, or any fish, and get back to the Ditch only to find a line of pleasure boaters backed up to 249. About 20 minutes into the wait I am told that they are not allowing any boats in until some pull out because parking is full. I asked the marina attendant if they happened to notice that I have an empty trailer which could only mean one thing. "Oh- well go ahead to the front of the line". Yep.

2 for 6 on the day but I at least another day out with my 12 year old son and it beat pulling weeds all day in the yard.

That was me who told you about getting pushed up to the font of the line :). I was right behind you. I had no idea who you were until you got the boat out and were driving away as I say "Stroke Of Luck" else I would have introduced myself.

Sucks about the fishing. I seemed to be having one of those weeks.......lol at least it cant get much worse right?

we had some of that same kind of luck yesterday, trolling along out by the gong and one of are planner rods just decided to fly out of the holder and to the bottom of the lake. think a eyelet got caught on the planner line and the board hit a wave and ripped it right out of the holder.

Fished 3 hours at MC and when getting in the car I found the ignition key refused to turn. I got a tow back home and Monday a new lock cylinder from the locksmith.

Did I mention the coho I caught?
