Given the wind tomorrow, I'm thinking of my kayak tomorrow and the center console Sunday. Questions:
Is Burns Ditch the only spot fishable by kayak that is likely to hold fish?
Are there coho in the marina at East Chicago and lakers/coho along the Inland wall, or is it too early?
In Burns Ditch, is bait a winning strategy (shrimp), or will casting Cleos likely be better?
Opinions much appreciated!

Gonna be cold out of the kayak! Got a drysuit?

By kayak right now, Burns Ditch from the mouth to the graywater discharge/confluence of Salt Creek is a good choice. Bait or casting, both work. Kinda depends on the day I think which is better

Michigan City from the Coast Guard, and maybe 1/2 mile up Trail Creek also has coho and fishable by kayak. Trolling thin fins, or anchoring up and casting bait in holes both work

A lot of fish have been taken with bait on the bottom compared to bobber fishing in Michigan City recently

I know people we catching coho and lakers at Gary Light, the fish are around

Thanks, I dress warm under stocking foot chest waders with water shoes, not boots, and an ice fishing coat. It works very well. I never thought of Trail Creek. Will likely give it a try. I hope to fire up the smoker tomorrow night....
