Headed out of portage around 4:30 and setup for the East troll towards the port. Targeted 50-60’ of water and had our spread covering the whole water column. First hit was a small 3lb laker on a dispsy 35’ down with a spoon. Next came the acrobatic 12lb steelhead on a j9 rapala 80’ behind a board. Just finished adjusting the spread and the DR went off. 42’ down with a spoon took the 21lb king. In the next couple hours we released another laker and landed 5 total coho. All of them were respectable size. Lake was 50 degrees surface temp and we trolled 2.4-2.8 mph. The wave were still building when we got off the lake around 1pm. Looked like a couple other southend guys were out and I hope everyone had a productive day! Water clarity was 100% better this weekend.

You are right. I didn’t even think about a brown trout. Maybe next time.

Excellent, what spoon did you use to take the King? Maybe fishing is on the upswing again.

Very nice! I was out there with the intention of going out to 60-80 fow but decided to check a hot waypoint from my last trip out in front of the dunes in 45 fow. Picked up a big laker then two 3-plus pound coho right away and decided to work the area. Ended up 12-for-13 with a two-man ticket by 11a. I released two lakers at the back of the boat but decided to keep two. One I wasn’t sure would make it if released and the other was a smaller one my buddy wanted for the smoker. The rest were nice, healthy coho including one that pushed 5 pounds. By far my best overall take of cohos.

Hot coho baits were Thin fins (gold and red/black squiggles) and green Yakima Mag Lips (3.5). Lakers hit Kevorkian and Blue Jeans spoons on the downriggers. There was a good chunk of time where I couldn’t keep lines in the water.

It was a magnum moonshine spoon. Green and chrome. 2 of my kings this year came on that spoon.
