Went out close to dark for a few hours after work. Lost 2 coho by the rock wall. Caught one coho and one laker on an orange spin doctor and white fly. Now for the sad part...

The heartbreak
I was in about 60-65 ft of water east of the wall and I lost two kings (not a double)... both came on my dipseys with purple (ish) mag spoons. I got them both to the back of the boat only to look them in the eye and lose them. One was about 13-15lbs and the other was over 20lbs. It's nearly impossible to net a fish on dipsey alone when my arm span is little to nothing and I'm flying solo. Unfortunately, the line snapped between my snubber and the spoon while I was trying to get the fish in the boat. The other one was a bad knot. I'll own up to it.

You may not believe me, but my father was on speaker phone with me the entire time - I have already been shamed for losing those fish.

No shame in that whatsoever! Tough enough to land a spring King with a crew let alone solo! Great post and report. Kings are around and that is what is good to know.

Thanks for the report. Bummer about the Kong’s. But glad to hear they are still around!

Feel your pain lost a big king when the knot on the leader let go, probably had the drag set to tight. End the day 6 for 9, 2 kings 4 cohos, 5 came on spoons one on jointed Rapala. Also had a Steel head on a slider that was jumping all over till I got the line tight then bye bye. Fished in 50/55 ft East of the ditch, lots of bait fish out there.

Slide divers = no snubbers, shorter leads

dogsbestfriend says: "Slide divers = no snubbers, shorter leads"
Good advice. Slide Diiver lite bites with short #40 fluorocarbon leaders, no snubber. Stretch out as far as you want behind the diver and still keep the rod handler in the game netting. No more walking to the front of the boat or hand lining fish to the net.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement and recommendations. I’ll be sure to check out the slide divers for my solo trips. :)

For single-handed fishing, use a gaff, have a long and a short one.
