I thought Washington Park was open but had gates blocking the entrance to the entire park this am. Can anyone advise what’s going on over there??

That's odd, I saw a bunch of people fishing at the light house this morning.

Interesting... It was a zoo there this weekend.

I plan on heading up to check on my boat this evening, I'll see if there are still barricades up.

I’m up here now and park is open. They are charging to get in now, so maybe they are doing the barricades to prevent people from getting in without paying before there are attendants on duty?

they had 2 shootings in park Sunday night so that might have something to do with it. Usually the swinging pipe gates are closed but if you drive to the left about 200' people drive in exit side of lot right before the the small attendant shack were slip holder parking is. Theres no swinging pipe gate there just a wood saw horse type they put up at night. Pier has been loaded every morning early pier fishing.

I called them and they told me the park is open, but not til 8am, including the ramp. Not sure how anyone getting away with “sneaking” in, but whatever. Went out for a pm troll and all was well til the end. What a shit show from all the gang bangers and riffraff. The police came in hard to clamp down on some idiots. Was glad to see their presence. There were a lot of fishermen and beach goers just trying to enjoy the park, but where there’s something nice, there’s got to be idiots that wanna ruin it. We had a fairly good outing for 3 hours trolling. Got delayed a bit from storms passing thru. We headed out blind to water..60-85 was our thoughts, set down. Ended up 4 for 5 kings, 1 coho, 1 Laker. Small slim spoons on sliders and riggers took 5 of the 7 bites. No specific spoon...mixed veggie, Carmel dolphin, kevorkian, and watermelon. Only marked couple small pods of bait. The fish would just come out of nowhere. Flies were bad, until the cooler pm air set in.

Im glad you were able to get some fish still! Good job. Ramp not opening till 8 is terrible for fisherman as this is the closest ramp to the lake.

Good ole Michigan city. Had a chance several years ago to build a first rate marina on the nipsco property and let it fall through.
8AM is a joke for fishermen, I guess theres always the creek ramp, but I've set outside waiting on that gate to open before too trying to get out pre dawn in middle of summer to fish 80'.
