Great day to be out today, trolled the ditch today, but no luck, but saw about ten boat trailers in parking lot.  Talked to another gentleman who also trolled the ditch said he had one fish on but got off by boat. Another boat came is when we were loading up,the gentleman said they when to Gary light house and had ten coho. Felted great to be on the water. Still great day to be out with brother and our fishing buddy.

Lookin forward to getting out there for the first time this spring. Just bought my first Indiana license and saw it is only valid April 1st. Never saw that before, so I called and they said I could buy last years non-res license for this month. I thought Illinois was bad. Guess I wait.

This is another instance of crappy marketing by the DNR.  They complain about declining numbers of sportsmen and license sales. They spend thousands on recruitment ploys and then won't do anything to finalize the sale.  I told them back when they moved the license year from the calendar year to the current 4/1 to end of March to start selling current year licenses on January 1st.  The move was only to placate the bean counters in the DNR who didn't want all those end of year duties to pile up during the Holidays.  This all occurred before computerized licenses.  If a computer can keep track of all the thousands of products in a Supermarket chain, hundreds of thousands of customers daily and ever changing prices due to sales, etc.  The DNR could keep track of the licenses they sell if they really wanted to do it. Nope, we've always tried to stick square sticks in round holes and by golly, we'll continue using those square sticks.
