Hello everyone this is my first post on here as I just joined a couple days ago. I launched out of portage Sunday 3/6 and boated 2 coho and lost another. I also launched out of portage yesterday 3/8 in the after noon and had no takers. I fished by the port both times and the fish were caught on brads thin fish. I was just wondering if anyone has tried Michigan city with any luck?

Welcome Ajames95. I am pretty new to this Lake Michigan fishing like you. The members of this forum are awesome. Their posts, answering questions and letting us know where to go for hits. Great to be a part of this forum. I have gained a wealth of knowledge so far, as well as you will.

I live in Schererville and not often fish out of Michigan City. I mainly launch from East Chicago, Hammond, Portage and fall time Cal Park for perching down the cal river.

I've been out 3 times so far and have only boated 3 brownies and 2 coho. Several misses. I also use Brads. Love them. I was out yesterday, launched EC headed to Gary and had to abort that area due to 3ft plus swells and inside the Gary break wall high waves. Went back to EC and trolled the Inland wall (hole in the wall). Graphing fish but no bites. Didn't troll long. Plan on going out Sunday and Tuesday.

Sea ya out there. Be safe. No lures in the water can't catch.

Good report and actually, good news. Seems like the last 8 or 10 years the early bite has always been at Gary and they as more fish show, it get's better at East Chicago and Portage, then Michigan City. So the fact you got some around the Port is pretty good news that things are progressing.  Play on!
