Finally got out this afternoon for our shake down trip. Planned to fish at portage and to the east on the way there but talked to a few boats coming out that said they caught zero fish at portage so we ran over to Gary. Set lines at about 130 and we wear done with a 3 man limit by about 4 30. Pretty much ran our spring king spread hoping for some big fish. Boated one nice laker that was somewhere around 15# and had another nice rip on a 150 copper that didn’t stay hooked up. All spoon program, mags and standard size both took fish. Didn’t see any bait on the graph and no bait in the fish when we cleaned them. 40 to 50 FOW and 2.6 to 2.8 S.O.G. Didn’t run the probe so not sure what speed was at the ball. West troll seemed more productive then coming east. It was the first time running the new garming trolling motor and have zero complaints there. No issues with anything so a successful shake down trip all in all. Hope we get some good weather Saturday for the tournament. Best of luck to everyone and see ya at weigh in!

Nice bunch of fish and good decision to go west - I fished from New Buffalo to Michigan City without any action this afternoon. The 2 other boats that I spoke with  had the same results .

Wow,  way to put the smack down on them.
If you don't mind me asking what depth were you running the spoons at? I am still doing alot of learning here- didn't know you could get a spoon bite so early in the year. I am running thin fins this time of year in upper 10-15 ft and do okay but not like you did.  Any elaboration on your spring program would be greatly appreciated,  thanks always love learning new techniques.

Nice job.   We fished EC and got 5 coho and 2 big lakers.  Lost at least 10 Coho for various reasons.    I thought we missed the hot time because we got on the water about 8 but seems you did fine starting later so guess I should have run to Gary.    Would have thought too early for the bigger spoons but it appears I was wrong on that front also.
