Started on 5:30 Tuesday just east of the mouth of the ditch in 40 FOW. Kinda windy but not bad. Headed west. Trolled to Gary lite, then turned around & headed west. Had action most of the day. Finished at 11AM with 20 coho. Dipseys were the hottest rods taking more than half our fish. Had a O dodger with an aqua fly on 1 side & a white spin doctor w/ white fly on the other. No rigger fish the rest were on birds.
On Wednesday we started at the same time but a litter farther west than the day before. Lake was very flat. Started out better that the day before. Bites came on boards & riggers. Go figure. So it slowed a bit but the dipseys finally getting the last couple. Finished at 10:15 with our 20 coho's. Most fish came on OO dodger & spoons. The last few on the dipsey were on the O size.
So both days it was a west troll for 2.5 hour then an east troll for 2 hours. Weather was hot but was better than wearing heavy clothes for a change.
Good luck to all.

Snarky comment here.  In-line planer boards (yellow birds is what the nickname comes from).  These are nasty little things, very helpful for getting fish to bite, then destroying any semblance of getting any "sport"  out of the fish that you get to bite.  Now that the fish are getting bigger, at least it feels as though there's a large garbage bag on the line when reeling in a fish as opposed to just a sandwich bag as is the case in March and April.

BIG BOARDS!!!!!

BN is right. The yellow birds do lessen the fight. But they do put fish in the boat. At 1 time many years ago we ran the "big" boards. Better fight when reeling in fish. But don't let anyone kid you they have there short comings too. More of personal preference.

Hey BN, I set my boards to release and slide down to  bead and swivel 6 feet above the board. Accomplishes two things- 1. You fight the fish and not the board and 2. When the board slides back the fish and line tracks right to the center of the boat so you can reel him right up the chute.
I am running Big Jon(Willie's)sideplaners now and really like them.  OR 19 releases on front,  no releases on the back- line passes through a swivel so it slides.  It's a great system.

I bought some Offshore OR-16 releases(heavy tension with pin in the middle) and put those as the back clip on my foam birds.  Front release comes loose and I take the board off as soon as it gets to the boat in the same spot I put it on.  I personally prefer it over letting it slide back to the bead/leader.
