LAKE TROUT
#1 Their preferred food is alewives, wether it was back in the 70's or today it hasn't changed.
#2 Perch are included into their diet.
#3 They will be eating alewives for 20-30 years of life.
#4 The caloric value of alewives is lower so the lakers will eat more not less.
#5 Alewives are not as healthy as they were with a more diverse diet.( could we be losing Alewives thru mortality do to them being less healthy?)
#6 Michigan stocked over 2 million last year alone
Are we not being told that the MAIN reason for the reduction in the king stocking program is based mainly on the loss of alewives? So we stock more alewive eaters and replace the ones we had? Am I missing something?
