Went out in the evening after dinner, decided to try for some Kings with the intention being to stay out until the sun went down, lines in the water at 5:30.  Set up in 50FOW in front of the port, marked some bait balls about 20' tall on the bottom and some rogue marks between 20-30' deep, but couldn't get any action going.  Made four passes, then pushed back towards the ditch to move shallower.  Once we got west of the ditch in 42FOW, took two coho on the same SWR with a magnum Bish's Bruiser, rigger was set at 28.  Pulled lines at 7pm as that storm system parked south of the lake and started looking a lot more ominous than the radar was showing.

Did get checked out by the DNR before we even had our full spread in the water, they must have started heading our way right as we set down.  Probably one of the more thorough inspections without actually having me pull lines and them tie up in a long time.

I'm used to just getting the basic questions around life jackets, a throwable, working horn, and what if any any fish are in the box. They had a few more safety related questions and actually had me show some more items so they could see, at least as best they could with the wind/waves kicking up.

You weren't kidding about it picking up out there.  Relatively calm went to all white caps in about 15 minutes out in 60 ft in front of Gary. Glad you picked up a few, I was glad to get out of there before the rain came.
Must have been a big push by both agencies to do check ups. I've been checked more than half the times I've been out this year

Kind of ironic they grilled you on a free fishing day when no license is required.
