Launched out of Portage at 5:30 and headed East to the Donut. We got setup in 55 FOW and trolled NE to 62 FOW. In the process of setting lines, we immediately had a missed hit on a rigger down 45 feet with a flasher/fly at about 6:30. Then the other rigger went off that was down 40 feet with a Mag UV Dancing Anchovy. We landed a 11.5# King. Shortly after that, we had a hit on a 200 Copper with a Mag UV Super Frog. It turned out to be a 3# Coho. We got out to 58 FOW and had our 150 Copper with a Mag Blue Mahi Mahi start screaming. We ended up with a 12.5# King. At 60 FOW, the rigger with the flasher/fly started dancing. We initially thought is was a king, but ended up being a 10# Laker. We caught one more small Coho on Mag UV Dancing Anchovy. The bite was done at 8:30 as the sun over head was heating everything up. We ended up going 5 for 8. It was a beautiful morning out on the lake.

Sounds like a real nice trip.
You mention about the sun coming up... does it just kill the bite or can you continue to catch throughout the day?

It just seemed like an early bite. At 62 FOW, we turned around and trolled back over the same areas until 10:30 with no bites or marks on the graph. I think it was mentioned in a previous post about the fish done feeding and moving to deeper water till the next bite. It seemed like the feeding window was done at that time.

okay that sounds reasonable.  I'm just trying to find a time to set if I can't get out early.
Sounds like I'd be better off launching at maybe 2pm instead of say 9am  if the feeding period is ending around then. I am still trying to figure some of this stuff out.

Thanks for the report! Congratulations!

We fished out of City and our action was about one hit every 45 minutes to an hour and never had multiple hits at the same time or close together.

Thanks again for posting your information!
