So lately and in the past I’ve seen reports from people not necessarily here but in groups, of fisherman adding extra rods and taking extra fish for under age non licensed fisherman. Now I’ve fished LM for the last 20+ years out of all 4 states and always thought regulations were 3 rods and 5 fish per licensed angler and if kids under 16 (non licensed) if they caught fish (which I’m all for)  their catch went against your limit. Example: 2 licensed fisherman bring 2 under age kids they can use 6 rods total and catch 10 fish per limit. Unless something has changed I was interested in knowing cause I’ve seen the same 2 fisherman with the same 2 kids run 12 rods and take 20 fish. Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance
Marc

Indiana anglers under 18 don't need license. Everything else applys. 3 rods 5 fish legal length etc..

What Slack said.  If your under 18 then you have a license by default.

I've been fishing for 60 years and took my kids fishing with me or my fishing buddy and a couple kids that were under 18 years of age. We ran 3 rods per person and never had a problem. They are legal to be fishing and are allowed 3 rods. Doesn't matter if they fish by themselves or coming fishing on the boat with me.

I've been checked numerous times over the years by the DNR and the sherriff's department on the water and at the launch.

The only time you'd get in trouble is if you're running lines for a 1 year old or something. As long as the kids can reasonably reel in a fish, you're fine

You can always buy your juvenile a license and solve many of these issues.
