Came up to fish Friday morning and met up with fellow members Mike and Rick. North out of the ditch and sat down in the 43’s and continued north. Fished dipsies, coppers, and riggers. All fired regularly. Red coho dodgers and double orange crush mini spin doctors with longer 2.5-3” flies were hot. Only a couple were caught on spoons. Fishing was good but the catching was a problem. Could not keep them hooked up. Went 8 for 20. 7 coho and an eater laker.
Got an early start this morning and back to the same area and the fishing was good again. Not as many bites but only lost 3 or 4 fish. Dipsies and riggers were the only things that worked. Finished up at 8:30 and called it a trip.
Sounds like a dream trip, but no good adventure goes unpunished. Makes my stomach sick to even think about it. Somehow a few Lake Michigan gremlins stowed away in the boat. We had the entire spread of coppers get wiped out and turned into scrap metal.  Somehow lines got crossed and wound together. I did manage to save the lures and the planer boards. 500 ft of 32lb Bloodrun laid wasted. Finished the trip with 5 rods in the water. Glad it happened late in the trip. I spent some serious money on my trip. You got to love it.

Think of it as an opportunity! Now that you need to replace some long lines, try some weighted steel line instead. Not saying it would have avoided turning into such a mess, but it might have - and really saves on X%*F(+@ nerves when using it.

I think that is a good idea. Did not think about it. Never had a reason to switch until now. Worst thing that has happened along those lines is when I lost 5 colors along the #4 shelf that runs east to west.

On another thread it was noted that coho were really nice size. We thought they were also. We had several that looked they would weigh 5 or 6 pounds or more. Really pulled drags also. Chocked full of alewives of various sizes also.

Thanks for the information! Sorry to hear.about.your tangles but it happens to all of us.from time to time.

I bought a 2000 yard spool.of 45 lbs blood run copper and spooled our own reels which saves a lot of money!

I was doing some research on it and it looks like there is a Torpedo brand and Bloodrun. Is one better than the other? Appreciate any suggestions on the brands.
