Fished straight out in about 70-75 fow. On a west troll 6 rod spread. Put 6 coho in the cooler in pretty short order with fish hitting everything. Thought was on the way to a good day and an early limit but things didn’t work out. On the 4th fish it was able to get tangled in the rigger cable. I quickly net the fish and with the other hand I reached down to free the spoon and line from the cable. The next thing I felt was a hard smack to my right cheek. I reached down and noticed the mag spoon was buried in my face and had missed my eye by about 1cm. Not sure if my buddy was still pulling on the rod trying to free the spoon when I went for it or what but needless to say my day ended early. After a couple of attempts it was clear it wasn’t coming out. pulled lines and net 2 more fish in the process and off to the ER. I’ll spare the rest of the gory details but fish seem like they are back around and it is picking up for silvers. I’m very thankful I didn’t lose my eye. Stay safe out there.

Ouch - thank goodness it wasn't any worse. Glad you at least got some nice fish and a great cooler shot - I may just have to give it a go in the morning since I retired Friday!

Awe, cmon man, where’s the real pic??…screw that bloody cooler of fish!   lol!!  Glad it didn’t get your eye…that definitely wouldn’t be a laughing matter!

Fishing for stripers on the east coast and had one spit the lure back at me wedging it into my neck.  Got back to the dock and a Game Warden checked us.  He said never mind, you got enough to deal with!
