Team Portage out in force yesterday with a strong performance, congrats to all the represented against MC!  Team Stroke of Luck headed west with most of the armada setting up in 43/15.  Our 3 man spread consists of 4 boards with weighted steel of 200, 250, 275, and 300. 2 corner riggers, either 1 dipsey and a third rigger or 2 dipseys, and a 300 weighted steel down the chute. Running the V pattern on the spread.  Fished in 65-85' of water most the day sticking to water that was productive between 44/46 and 15/18.  Went 11 for 14:

3 Lakers
2 Steelhead (biggest was 12.9lbs)
6 Coho

Boards were the most productive all with standard size spoons, followed by the 300 chute rod with a small plug from Salmon Candy (might have my new favorite lure here), and sliders.  Set deepest rigger at the 53' water temp early then dropped to water at 49' later looking for the King we all needed but that was a quiet setup except for the slide on it.  Ran dodgers and peanut flies as well as a flasher and fly but could not get them going so limited that presentation.  Wanted to fish a Dancing Anchovy because TMIK says there is no other spoon worth using (LOL) but both Cabelas and Bass Pro were completely sold out so he must be telling a few people....For once the Moonshine Sand Burr failed to produce but the Green Goby was the killer on the 200' taking a trout, steelhead, and Coho.  Interestly though only on the port side.  Didnt get touched on the starboard side on a 250' that added another Green Goby to since he port side was so productive.

By 10:30 for us after steady action we hit a wall and from that time to lines in at 1:00 we went 3 for 4. Marked almost no bait which was strange and probably the first time in 3 years but continued to mark fish so the bait must be there.  Cleaning the fish had some magnum alewives but a lot is the 3-4" range which is good to see another generation out there now.  Saw some gobies to which was interesting.  Sounds like its going to get hot starting the end of the week so fishing that 65-75' may be considered "in shore" for the rest of the summer. Hopefully some south winds to give us southenders a thermocline at least to work with.
