TOPIC:

Wanted to give the fall/winter Laker jig bite a try,something I've wanted to do for few years just haven't.
Plan on fishing the areas around the ditch and maybe  cal park.
Question is what water temp should I be looking for to get started,planned on trying jigging rapalas and maybe some slab spoons etc.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’m not 100% sure on the exact water temp, but typically (in a typical year) around end of October to early November they start to show up along the rocks and break walls. You can use jigging spoons, blade baits, big white tube jigs, Rapala Rippin’ Raps, etc. When I tried it, I was amazed at how the actual bite felt, just like a tap and you would think you were snagged on a rock at first, then the fight begins. They fight very well in the cold water. They will typically start to leave for deeper water sometime in March/early April, when I jigged for them, it was actually in mid March, but the tactics were the same. 

Yep, late October and mid-50s for the water temps signals that they are coming nearshore

If the water is in the high 50s and we get a big cold front, the tribs cool off faster than the lake and they all suck up into the lower parts of Burns Ditch and Trail Creek

November can get you a combo trip by Cal park...... jig the break wall for lakers then run up river for perch..... makes for a nice day

Kinda what i was thinking, diffently worse ways to spend a nice winter day.
