Fished out of Portage this morning. 3 man limit in 2 hours 45 minutes..started at 8:00 am. Ran jointed rapalas, orange and black thin fins, and purple flicker shad. Had a nice visit from the boys in green. All was good! Never left the mouth. Stayed outside the mud line.

After several attempts to get south, my first ever Portage launch will be tomorrow.  It looks breezy but with wind from the south I'm hoping for some protection nearshore. The boat should handle 2's or less. I welcome any comment on navigation, safety, and where to find Coho waters. Thanks.

Usually this early its going to be by the river mouth plume for the warmer water or head nw to Gary ( 8 miles along the beach) and fish the harbor. It is big enough to troll in.

Just FYI there are currently 8-10 foot waves pounding the south end. It may be bumpy if you get out early, but the forecast is calling for laying down to 2s by morning. May be some big rollers around yet.

The water is very dirty and chalky right now after the blow - may try fishing right at the mouth of the ditch to start

Our group of three were fishing the same area too. Same results, but we also had a good dodger/fly and spoon bite. Several doubles and one triple. Great to knock the rust off.

Launched from Portage just after sun-up. The wind was a pain today but the fishing was fire. I’ve had good days before but today was ridiculous. Made the run over to Gary light but took the scenic route thinking we should run out to where the boats were at. It didn’t occur to us until we were there that we found the perch guys. Oops. Set lines at Gary light, arrived with one other boat setting lines. Meandered around the lighthouse and picked off one fish each pass. Turned along the inner wall not knowing any better fighting the wind crabbing to keep out of the wall. Five boards hit all at once. I’m on the helm and my son’s in the back flipping fish as fast s he can. In 10 minutes we hit our limit and had to spot lock to unravel the chaos. Thanks to all for the help. Bright colors (laser thin fin) and blue chrome thin fins took all but two fish.
