Haven’t been out chasing salmon in several weeks. Looking to get out in the morning 7/14 and possibly again later in the week. Wondering if anyone has been out the last couple days and has caught some silver fish. Just looking for a general area to head to or an area that was dead to not work. Would like to launch from ec or portage.

I would definitely give it a shot. Fishing has been great recently. I’d start in 60 FOW and fish out to 80 or 90 FOW. Hit it early so you’re setting lines before the sun is up. They’re aggressively feeding around dawn or dusk. The bite can shut down mid morning if it’s too hot or bright outside. Gotta take advantage while you can since the bite might not be this good in the next few weeks.

If I were to go out today would be setup last known positons about 50-55 FOW and just go NE until find something. If the weather works for this weekend I'll be out doing that.

As both said, starting 55ish FOW and trolling deeper. Its looking like ill be out Thursday after work again, planning to start north of the ditch with a NNE troll. Will set down in 50, set rods, and see where the evening takes us. Hoping my replacement probe delivers before then so I can find the thermocline a little easier.

Thanks for the tips guys. But it wasn’t our day today. We ended up running a ways east towards mc thinking there was a better chance of cooler water nearshore. Set up in 58fow and headed north. I didn’t send down the probe right away which was a mistake. The water was quite a bit warmer than expected and I feel we spent too much time there. Left that area headed north and then nw searching for something a bit more fishy on the graph. Finally just decided on a south troll along the Illinois Michigan line and picked up one chunky coho. Packed up lines at 8am and headed in on the smooth waters trying to rid the boat of all the insect hitch hikers we had acquired.
