Remember to renew your Fishing license and salmon/trout permit soon as the 2014 will expire soon. Also don't forget boat registrations need re-upping. Hopefully no one gets ticketed needlessly.

I'm sure I have made some bad calls in my life, but one I don't regret was buying my Lifetime Hunting & Fishing license. It has already given me 8 years of free H & F. Thank-you DNR. Rudey

I bought mine in 2000. Best thing I ever did. Especially with all the hunting I do.

Yep, no longer for sale. The state figured it out that in the long run they were losing money. Rudey

Bought mine in '86. Best long term gamble I have ever made. One of the dumbest moves I have made is not buying the fishing endorsement when I bought my life time hunting. I think there is a long term fishing license to get when you get 60 or something or something like that.

I bought mine so long ago I can't even remember. The license number is 999. (I was working for the DNR back then and pre-selected the number - one of very few perks I ever got from all those years.) I figure I've saved around a million dollars in license fees since then. (That's why they discontinued them.)
Actually, when they were started, interest rates were sky-high. When you could buy CDs or Money Market certificates that yielded double digit returns, it seemed a good deal. The law allowed spending the interest plus 2% of the principle each year. When interest rates tanked, so did the amount of money the DNR got from the Lifetime License fund. So they cancelled them. I'm just glad they didn't invalidate the ones already purchased.
When a person turns 64 they can purchase a lifetime fishing license for the price of a resident fish license (currently $17.00).
