Lake Trout & Splake Regulations for the Great Lakes (effective 4/1/2016)
Possession Season for Lake Trout and Splake
Lake Superior MI 1 through MI 8: open all year
Lake Huron MH 1 through MH 6: January 1 – September 30.
Lake Michigan MM 1 through MM 5: January 1 – September 30.
Lake Michigan MM 6 through MM 8: January 1 – October 31.
Size limits for Lake Trout and Splake
Lake Superior MI 1 through MI 8: the minimum size limit for lake trout and splake shall be 15 inches, except that the daily possession limit shall not include more than one (1) lake trout 34 inches or greater.
Lake Huron MH 1 through MH 6: the minimum size limit for lake trout and splake shall be 15 inches.
Lake Michigan MM 1 through MM 4: the minimum size limit for lake trout and splake shall be 15 inches and the maximum size limit shall be 27 inches, except that the daily possession limit shall not include more than one (1) lake trout or splake 34 inches or greater.
Lake Michigan MM 5 through MM 8: the minimum size limit for lake trout and splake shall be 15 inches.

Lake Superior MI 1 through MI 3: three (3) lake trout.
Lake Superior MI 4 through MI 8: five (5) lake trout.
Lake Huron MH 1 through MH 6: three (3) lake trout.
Lake Michigan MM 1 through MM 5: two (2) lake trout.
Lake Michigan MM 6 through MM 8: three (3) lake trout.
