After the last couple days fishing at EC and Portage, I know one thing. The cohos are gone. GONE GONE GONE.

Where? I've seen a couple years when they went out to 140 - 150 feet and set up there. I've seen other years they went to Northpoint Marina/Waukegon/Kenosha.

The good thing is most years they come back after a couple-three weeks. MOST YEARS, not all.

In the mean time, anyone wanting some action, head for the Indiana Shoals and fish for lake trout (or Tippecanoe River for White Bass or Pine Creek and fish for suckers. You can troll the paint off your lures in the usual places for the next several weeks and be disappointed.

I stopped by MC to see the guys weigh in and it appears the Coho are in 175' plus water. There was a 17.8 King weighed and a 15. Also some nice Browns but the ones with the big fish didn't have the Coho. I think 10 Coho won the tournament.

We went out with everbody else. Started at Gary. Lost a real nice king at the back of the boat along the steel wall. Then headed over to Inlands wall. Had to short strikes. Then went over to shipping canal and boated a decent coho. Bring on the perch.

Tim (Tmik34) and I went out to St. Joe today to get his boat in the slip. We did a bit of trolling for a while. We went 0-1 losing a nice King at the net. We didnt mark all that much at all.

Got out for a try at the evening bite with no hits or marks between 4 - 6ish I only stayed by the mouth of the ditch because my kicker acted up but talking to others coming back from GL didn't miss anything. Perfect day out ... just needed fish. A few larger (charter ??) boats came in from the direction of New Buffalo.
