We headed up to ST. Joe on Friday afternoon to put the boat in the water and do some pre fishing for the SCHU'S SUMMER CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT. It was a perfect evening on the water, but fishing was slow for us we fished in 80-120fow with nothing to show for it. On Saturday with strong winds forecasted we decided to head off shore to 200fow to get our silver fish first, but it took us a little longer than expected. After finally getting the coho we needed we headed into 70fow between ST. Joe and South Haven to pick up our lake trout the problem was we could only find one so we pulled lines and headed further north then reset. The waves were starting to really build at this point and made it tough to fish so we did not end up getting any of the other trout we needed for the tournament. We ended up with 3 fish total and we needed 5 for the tournament so we did not place well, but with the terrible waves we fished in we where just happy to be on solid ground again. On Sunday we brought the boat up to South Haven for our next tournament. We did some fishing and ended up with a decent laker in 100fow and the headed offshore to 200-220fow to see if the coho where still around and ended with 5 only running 6 rods. The fish where all over the water column with stinger spoons on 150ft of Morgan's copper run behind church boards taking the most fish. A mixed veggie stinger on a rigger down 135 was also hot. The next tournament on the list is in South Haven this upcoming weekend 5/13-15 and we can't wait!
