This has been out a few months, but interesting nonetheless.
The Death and Life of the Great Lakes, by Dan Egan, details the "ecological catastrophe happening before our eyes" and the far-ranging and devastating effects of invasive mussels.

Good read thank you for sharing. The "clean" looking water is nice to look at for tourist but man has it changed the fishery. There isn't much we can do anymore, they are here to stay. Hopefully the lake managers can manage the fish populations for future generations. Invasives also have a boom and a bust in their population trends. Time will tell.

Very interesting article, thank you, the lake is not the same as it was in the 1980's. I remember in the mid 1970's to 1980 in pastric marina fisherman would set out nets to catch smelt.
