Last weekend when we were out steelhead fishing. Had a downrigger go off. Felt like I was pulling in a truck tire. It ended up being a tangled ball of mess of two spinning rods that somebody must have lost fishing from Shore. They do not appear to have been down there long. They were not crusty and still looked clean. And there was still bait on the hooks. If somebody can describe the rods and reels. I will happily give them back to the owner. Thank you

There was also about a hundred feet of line and a large diving crankbait That look like somebody else had already snagged into the mess and broke off.

This is awesome guys. This is the exact way I met Mike from tow boats a couple years back.
It's better to ask forgiveness than for permission.

Great that they can be returned and made possible by the site. Now I just have to ask when we are going to hear the story of how they ended up where they ended up. I have seen lots of rods go in the water over the years from shore and the boat. Worst one I ever had was a customer, back in the 80's, had a couple nice kings with a husband and wife team fighting them. Husband got his king to the boat and I could hear drag on the wife's reel so not an issue net the fish and help the wife. well when I got turned around to grab the other net and direct her in there was no fishing rod in her hands. Ok it came off I thought, checked the rod holders but no rod standing straight. The following exchange went like this;

"Excuss me Mrs, where did you put the rod?"
"Well I couldn't reel it anymore"
"Ok where did you set it when the fish came off?"
"What do you mean came off?"
"When the Fish came off the Hook, where did you set the rod?"
"Oh, I didnt set it anywhere."
"What do you mean you didn't set it anywhere?"
"Well, the fish was pulling, I couldn't reel anymore, and when I let go It went in the water."

Needless to say I didn't get a tip as the husband wasn't very happy with the added charge of a new rigger rod and reel.
