UNUSUAL FACT: The Wisconsin state record for a hook-and-line alewife is 2.4 ounces and 8 1/8 inches long, set by Eric Geisthardt on May 17 this year on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee.

rule clarification? If you catch a salmon on a hook and line, cut it open and it has a whopper alewife inside, can that alewife be entered into the contest?

I pulled into a camp in Canada one time and there was an argument ensuing. A guy had caught a big trout and the group of guy he was with had a big fish of the week pool going. After being landed the laker barfed up a sizeable whitefish. The fish catcher wanted to stuff the whitefish back in the trout when weighed, the others argued differently. Who was right?
