Well, another year is almost over but the good news is open water fishing is right around the corner and it is time to think about all the new equipment we "have" to buy, improvements on our boats and dream about screaming drags. Despite the end of the open water fishing season, hunting season and the holidays the GLSI has been extremely busy working for our fishery in the future.
We would like to welcome the Detroit Area Steelheaders as members of the GLSI. The GLSI visited and gave a presentation to the group this fall and many great questions and comments were made. These comments, concerns and questions were then presented to the MDNR. The GLSI value as an angling organization is to represent and be a voice for it's members and the power is in numbers.
On Saturday Jan 13th MSU Sea Grant is having it's annual Ludington Workshop where previous research and data is presented. Hope concerned anglers and members of the GLSI can take the time to attend.
The GLSI will be holding a member meeting on Friday Jan 12 at the Ludington Comfort Inn 6-9:00pm. I have some paperwork to return today but we have negotiated reduced room rates if you plan on staying overnight to attend the Sea Grant Meeting. You will be able to register by Fri 12/29 Just notify them GLSI to get reduced rates. Contact number is 231-845-7004.

Donna and I just booked a room at the Ludington Comfort Inn for 1/12/18. The GLSI has gotten a break on room rates and has a block of rooms set aside. They are a pet friendly Inn.
