Hey Guys and Gals,

Just thought I would drop a short note as this is my last week in the region as a permanent resident, well as long as the house sell somewhat quickly, lol. My wife and I decided a couple weeks ago to accept a job in Michigan, move back home closer to our aging parents and growing grandkids. So for the past couple weeks things have been moving fast and have very little time to do much but pack and sleep, sometimes eat too. Can't believe it has been over 16 yrs now we have been in the area. We have meet a lot of great people over that time and some really good fisherman. I will still stop in on the site from time to time and be available for info on the northern waters which look like is going to be a great year and have some monster kings this fall from Ludington to my favorite port of Frankfort. Now I just have to find a new house and get the wife settled so I can hit the water and follow up on the great spring we had down here. Good luck in the coming months on the south end and hoping you guys keep some good water temps for continued good fishing.

Jeff

Good luck in your move and I can't say that I am not a little envious of you moving to some pretty good fishing waters and away from Chicago. Stay in touch and please let us know about the fishing up north - may have to take a ride some weekend.

Hey Guys,

Got an update for you on the move and a crazy couple of months so far. Job is going well and happy to be back where it is a little slower lifestyle overall. Been busy packing and traveling back and forth so haven't had a lot of time to fish but think we have located a house(offer is in anyway). The new place will be about 45min from Muskegon, an hour from Ludington/Pentwater, and about 1 1/2 hours to Manistee or Frankfort on the Salmon fishing side. Have been scouting around locally and wow where to start, so many inland lakes and the Muskegon, White, Pere Marquette rivers running through various portions of the county I am having a hard time not going crazy with not having time to fish. Have not caught up on the posts yet but hope the season is treating you all well it sure was a good start during the spring and showed some very good potential. Reports from Frankfort have been good size fish but somewhat slow as the season has been getting started. Was hoping to get up there for a few days over the Labor day weekend for some Platte Bay Coho and post a report. Good luck guys and hope to post another update soon.

Leland is very nice, did you drive up the coast? About half way between Muskegon and Ludington then East into the National Forest is where we will be.

New home has been negotiated and offer papers signed, so feeling a little better about getting settled here, should happen around mid to end of September on possession. Specifications on the house are exactly why we decided to come back closer to home. Our little slice is surrounded by National Forest on all sides, not terribly far for Salmon fishing most likely fishing Pentwater and Ludington with trips to Frankfort in there too. Lots of small lakes filled with panfish, pike, bass, and walleye plus a 4 acre 12ft deep pond on the property. A trout stream along the east side of the property crossing the back corner and into the forest behind the property and meets up with another stream that comes in from the west and I am getting excited about getting the wife and exploring the area for Rainbows and Brookies. We will have a good mix of pasture and woods with the added bonus of our closest neighbor being about a 1/2 mile away, = quiet country living. A couple big pole barns to store all the toys, 30 min to work which I usually see more wildlife than cars, and am not missing driving on 94 one bit, lol. A guest cabin on the edge of the back pasture might be available for a couple of my fishing buddies from time to time, the wife has given permission(lol). With a later possession date in Sept that should allow for a Platte Bay Salmon trip (I Hope).
