I wasn't able to wet a line while up near Grand Traverse bay last weekend, but I did make a stop at the Jordan River National Fish Hatchery. This is the largest Lake Trout production hatchery in the USFWS rearing over 3 million trout a year. I was really impressed to read about their "Baby Brookies" Cooperative Project that brings area kids into the process of propagating and distributing brook trout around the area.

The hatchery was open to simply walk around and observe with a few informational placards in key locations. Some interesting history to the rise, fall, and resurrection of the Lake Trout Fishery.
