I heard from a friend over MC way the DNR officers were making routine boat stops - no big deal, that's their job. But he said they were being "overly rude" if you get my drift. I told him I haven't had any issues but I just wondered if anyone else had. I realize there's two sides to each incident and I'm sure the COs run across plenty of "overly rude" boaters as they patrol the lake. I told my friend I'd post on here to see if anyone else was having a problem or has been stopped and had no problem.

I have been checked this season, but they have been completely cool and friendly. Absolutely no issues for me.


Side note. I always get nerves although I know I have everything I'm supposed to! Lol

I have not been stopped but I also got my CG sticker this year for the boat. The CG Aux officer did tell me they were cracking down on illegal charters, kayaks, and as stated in an earlier post about the inspection that you now need both batt terminals covered. He is not DNR so might not apply at all but I believe he is out of Michigan City and was super nice. I have not come across MC DNR ever by the ones I have experienced out of Portage and EC have all been really friendly. Maybe just one of them having a bad day or they are being pushed to hand out more fines for revenue.

We got checked in about two weeks ago and they were pretty friendly for the most part had zero complaints here even with my cousin having a screenshot of his license on his dead phone They were still pretty cool about it
