In many places salt water anglers hoist “brag flags” at the end of their trip so as they pull into port, other people can see what they caught - often on outriggers or antennas, you’ll see blue flag for marlin, red for sailfish, yellow for mahi, etc.

Many years ago a guy in Wisconsin tried to do the same thing for Lake Michigan - Black for kings, red for steelhead, etc. It never caught on - most likely because you’d need a set of 5 and they would cost $75 or so for a set.

Still, a fun idea. So I was thinking about something so show off when the “skunk” comes out of the box and the flag idea popped into my mind. I checked to see if I could get a No Skunk flag to hook to my antenna after the skunk comes out of my cooler, each day.

They are certainly available, but doing it as a one-off screen print is very expensive, but that’s because I’d be paying the one-time set-up fee. I was thinking if Jeff wanted to add one of these to his Southend merchandise, the cost of the set up would be spread out. I’d buy one - would you?

Could you do this, Jeff?

I’d buy one then likely forget to fly it so everyone will think I have a skunk. Lol

That would be the 2-3 times per year I have time to fish and the weather is good and the boat isn’t in the shop.

I think its a neat idea. We (me and the wife) are getting some equipment so we might be able to do one off's of everything. Need to do plenty of testing to ensure quality. If all works out, I could do one off's of anything anytime which would be excellent.

Stay tuned and I will report back - probably sometime in January.

I would buy one! It is always fun making fishing outings into a more social group deal. Doing things like this opens up the door for conversation with other fishermen. Also let's you know who is a southend member
The little red rocket! It's all the boat I need ;)

My wife just made a prototype. I think she said she got a golf flag and not a marine flag. I have to research the difference. It didnt come out perfect but was a first try. If this works out we can do the no skunk flag and a southend flag......or honestly since my wife is making them all one off - anything you want. Here is what she did:

That looks good, though I'd rather have grommets than a sleeve for the flag staff.

The marine flags would have grommets. Also the limitations, is the flag material itself would have to be white or light colored. I have to get a few marine flags so she can test her process on it.
