I see Michigan has relaxed the ban on motorboats. I had a trip planned for late May to Ohio/Lake Erie. Can't buy Ohio NR licenses at this time. Considering diverting to Michigan portion of the lake.
Where are the boat launches in Michigan/Erie - any experience, favorites, ones to stay away from?

Hopefully the May 12th date is for the license freeze to be over. I know they are shooting to open the campgrounds then.

Best launch by far between Toledo and Detroit is Sterling State Park in Monroe, MI. DNR launch so will need MI Passport. Can be purchased at the DNR office in the park. Beautiful launches and huge parking lot. Fish cleaning station with electric and grinders. Restrooms but may still be closed. Bait store near park entrance. Lot's of motels from cheap to expensive within quarter mile of entrance. I would call park office and make sure they are allowing out of staters to launch. Second alternative is Bolles Harbor. Also a DNR launch. On south side of Monroe. No cleaning facilities. Best place to fish is the River Raison shipping channel area in 18 - 24 fow. About two miles SE of Sterling harbor entrance. Fished there for many years in Spring. Not known for trophy fish but plenty of eaters. Be sure your graph shows MI-OH line as it is close. Ohio CO's patrol area. Watch the weather reports. Dont fish any winds with the word east in it. Western basin is shallow water 24' or less.
