Smart phones do not use a traditional method to define the picture orientation (by web standards) since they use the gyro. This information is not transmitted to the web when uploaded. It works for apps like facebook, because its an app and is programmed to interpret it. I fix the orientation of all pictures I see that are wrong. This sometimes takes a while to see the change because your browser caches (keeps memory) of the picture so it doesnt have to reload the data.

My best suggestion to everyone taking pictures is to take them in landscape mode (phone sideways) with likely the top of the phone on your left side, and home button on the right side. Anyways, if pictures come up sideways, I will fix them as I see them.
Boatless!
