Was wondering if a few of you hunt on a hunting lease. Not interested in what you pay more like how your lease reads and how you manage your lease. Is it something set up by you or the land owner? What happens when one of the leasers breaks the rules of the lease?

My family has been hunting the same parcel of land for 40 years now on a lease. One of our hunters violated the lease agreement and has been asked to leave. We will be pulling his stands today. A good friend also,, but sneaking others in is a big no!

I've not hunted on a lease, but I agree, sneaking in another hunter is cause for banishment. I've had permissions withdrawn due to other guys sneaking in people more than once. I've abandoned properties which others in the original group started bringing uninvited friends or family.

I allow a couple of guys to hunt on my property (no lease) but if either of them ever brought another hunter, I'd kick both of them off. The invited guys know it.

In a lease situation, I would think having some sort of "written down" agreement is advisable. In it the issue of "guests" should be addressed. Allowed, not allowed, allowed with consent of the others (including landowner), and penalties included and inforced.

Remember, on leased land, liability of both landowner and lessor is different than just a landowner granting free access to hunt. Many leases require insurance to be purchased and sneak in hunters would not be covered.

Over time we have always kept this farm in good shape. You will not find water bottles, shot gun shells, garbage of any kind etc.
We keep it as if it was ours, and that has been much appreciated by the owner.
My kids grew up with his, and both families are very close now.
Trust,,,,, something that takes time to build can be lost quickly.

It is nice to have a spot that you can safely go hunt on. Turkeys in the spring,,, deer in the fall,,, a few squirrels and bunnies to have during the winter. We have a spot to cook and camp if we want. Has taken time to fix it up the way we have. Probably will keep it tied up between my son and I now.
