I've not seen anything here on the Southend and I've not seen anything other than Facebook posts, but for any of you who knew him, Capt. Steve Kreighbaum, one of the "senior" charter captains from Michigan City has died. I know none of the details, nor does that much matter.
Steve and the F/V Crorkindill has been a presence on the South End of Lake Michigan since the 1970s.
Many know Steve by his nickname, Earthquake, or just "Quake."
Quake was one of my earliest mentors from back when the Brother Nature was a 16 footer with a 50HP Merc on the stern and he's been a friend, ever since. He was a one of a kind personality, a pioneer of salmon fishing on the Great Lakes and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Steve was a great captain and always a source of reliable information on the water, always happy to help. He will be missed. We've lost some good ones this year. Chuck Lentin (Special Angel) passed Dec 1st and Joe Brown ( We Be Fishin) in October.
