Early next week, Mixsawbah Hatchery will be stocking our Indiana stocking sites.

Monday April 22, the hatchery will make two trips from Walkerton to East Chicago. The first trip will be to stock the net pen Kings, then the drive all the way back to Mixsawbah, to load up again for the night stocking of Kings. The fishermen from East Chicago will again help extract the young kings from the outside pond, load the truck, and head out again for East Chicago to complete the night stocking. Portage and Michigan City then the next day will be getting their stocking of Kings.

What a great day for loading kings and stocking. Thankyou, Mixsawbah Hatchery for all the help and great job raising our fish.

It was a full court press with the fishermen from East Chicago. Fun day with a learning curve, and a chance to experience what our DNR does daily to help make our fishery as good as it can be. Thanks to Ben and Josh for being part of the team work. It was a full day that ended late with the stocking in the evening for the night stocking. Half is now in the net pens and the other half released after dark.

Nice job guys!

It was a fun day, and just like us fishermen, the hatchery is really good at guessing weight.
Every net scoop was weighed, and it became a game as to guessing how much each net scoop weighed in at.
Don't bet money against the hatchery on weight guessing, you would lose. LOL
