Just as the cottonwood season starts to wane, the ankle fly season on the big lake is getting into full swing!  I've written whole articles about the various ways, lotions and potions people have concocted to deal with the flies. I used to bring Yard Guard and spray the back of the boat. Didn't stop them, but it killed about 1/3rd, evicted about 1/3rd and left the other 1/3 gasping for relief spinning around in circles on the deck. I always told myself those were the ones that had bitten through my pants and socks so I didn't feel sorry for them.  

Now, that drama is finished on the Brother Nature. I just pull out a can of Sawyer Picaradin insect repellant, hose down my legs from my knees to my feet and it puts the ankle biters at bay. I've tried them all, most are useless, the Picaradin gets four stars from me!  

I agree. I bought a can of the Picaradin last year and we sprayed it on the Edge of the Hardtop and that kept the flys for collecting and biting. Before we sprayed the Hardtop the bottom side would be black with flys .

I started using it a few years ago when you suggested it Mike and it works great.

I have a bottle on my desk ready to go for the Port v Port tomorrow  .  I think BN had the best LM fishing tip ever with this stuff!  

We can wear shorts again! Thanks to BN for making us aware of the best biting fly repellent ever.

Just an observation but not everybody should be wearing shorts.
